At some point late last night, with no warning, and having done nothing to my site or Store/Paypal settings, suddenly WPEC stopped sending shipping charges to Paypal. The Premium Shipping plugin still calculates the charges accurately, and they’re displayed during checkout, but they aren’t passed onto to Paypal, so customers aren’t paying shipping for their purchases.

Do you have any ideas why this is happening? I’m using Paypal Payments Standard 2.0 as the payment gateway, and all the settings appear correct and have not changed since yesterday.

This is an emergency, as customers have been buying products and not paying any shipping. Thank you so much for your help.

Having the same problem with shipping fees not carrying through to paypal using paypal standard.. have tried updating to the latest version of wp e-commerce and still no shipping in paypal, we’re using table rate which has been fine for ages, have just started a campaign and we’re not taking any shipping charges.. Please help! site is http://www.senser.co.uk

have also tried disabling all plug ins, using a default theme and flushing the cache – still not fixed.. we’re taking orders so unfortunately we’re losing money now on a tight margin, don’t want to turn the shop off as we’ve just spent money on a marketing campaign… please help, thanks

Updating to 3.8.14.3 does not help, and in fact causes other issues for our site, so I’m back to running 3.8.13.4. This is quickly becoming an emergency, as we ship products internationally, which involves costly shipping.

I’ve tried restoring plugins from backup to no avail. And I’ve spoken to tech support at our host, and they claim that it’s not an issue on their end, that it must be a plugin.

The problem began between 8:05PM and 9:25PM EST last night. Suddenly orders stopped sending shipping charges to Paypal.

Please help! What happened last night to break the communication between WPEC and Paypal?!

    Hi,
Same exact thing happened with my site at exactly the same time. We’re getting orders through with no shipping costs added and it seems after a few tests that paypal is not receiving them. Also no email notifications are being sent through to us after the purchases. Disabling plugins makes no difference but it shouldn’t because it just started happening out of the blue.
Does anybody from wp-ecommerce have an idea what might have caused this and how do we go about fixing this.

I think it’s a problem affecting a few different shopping carts caused by something on PayPal’s end. I’ve found a few people posting on various forums with the same problem.

I’m looking at copying the solution mentioned on the following link however it’s for another shopping cart and could be a different problem altogether.

It involves changing the name of the hidden input containing the shipping cost value from “handling_cart” to “shipping_1”.

    POSSIBLE SOLUTION
Do so at your own risk, requires editing plugin files

Find the file wp-content/plugins/wp-e-commerce/wpsc-merchants/paypal-standard.merchant.php and replace “handling_cart” with “shipping_1” each time it appears.

Your shipping costs should carry over to PayPal now.

I just spoke to Paypal and they recognise that it is a problem with them not receiving the postage data and they are working on fixing it. The woman I spoke to on the phone said to me that any postage which is missing from the transactions will be put into our accounts as soon as they have sorted it. I am going to speak to them again if what they have said about the postage costs turns out to be false. I would urge you to do the same.

Does that mean they are paying for it themselves?

Yes, that’s what Paypal told me. It’s a known issue, should be resolved by tonight or tomorrow, and they’d credit lost shipping income to my account. What a mess.

Quick! Everybody jack up your shipping costs!

thanks ersatzpole.. how did you contact paypal?

    cheers

    ok found the number, cheers

    Hi,
I talked with Paypal this morning (Australian customer with the call handled by PayPal in Ireland).

Our shipping is $10 flat rate. PayPal said that as the transaction IPN records are now not showing a $10 shipping/handling amount that it’s therefore a WPEC issue as we are not sending that charge to them!

As we use flat rate shipping I’ve used the PayPal shipping settings to add $10 to each order so we’re now correctly charging shipping again.

If it turns out to be a PayPal issue then I guess we’ll double charge a few customers (which we can refund) until we set the PayPal shipping settings back to 0.

Our WPEC version is 3.8.8.5 so I guess going forward we’re going to need to look into either upgrading or maybe move to woocommerce instead which looks interesting. Maybe it’s only those of us on older versions of WPEC having the problem?

    Mike.

Judging from the posts here it’s not related to the plugin since it’s different versions and different shops that people are posting about. They wouldn’t all stop working at the same time unless something changed on the paypal side.

A quick search does seem to indicate this is a problem on the paypal side of things. Though PayPal is being a bit quiet about it directly.

I have contacted paypal I’m waiting for their reply for an official answer.

I just got off the phone with paypal and they’re telling me that it’s not an issue that they are aware of.

They’re telling me that paypal is not receiving the info from my website. I run WordPress 4.0, WP e-commerce 3.8.14.3.

Nothing has changed on my end and I haven’t touched any settings in months. I just think they don’t know what they’re talking about as people across different platforms are having the same issue.

    Any ideas?

    @hbdecals

I assume they are either not fully aware of the issue at normal support level or could be covering their ass no idea.

But multiple shops of different versions and platforms don’t just stop working all on their own. So it has to be their end.

It would make sense if it were a specific version of the plugin or a specific change people have in common.

So for now all I can do is wait to hear from PayPal

    @edward, Exactly.

Keep us posted if you hear anything. We are at PayPal’s mercy. I’m out at least $50.00 in shipping charges as we speak.
