Changing WordPress Install Directory on Same Server with Same Domain Name

Hello. I originally installed wordpress on http://www.mydomain.com/WordPress/ (WordPress Address) and then followed http://codex.wordpress.org/Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory these instructions to change the (Site Address). (As able to do in WordPress/Settings/General) So homepage looks like it is installed in the Root. http://www.mydomain.com
5 years later and someone told me this is the incorrect way to do it on a premium theme and I should ‘move’ the entire core install to the Root.
Any input on that?
Can you advise if it’s ok to have all core files in subdirectory /WordPress/ , and if its not, can I use your plugin to “Migrate/Change Domain Name” to move everything from subdirectory to root on same server with same domain name?
