# 2.1 RC1 – Multiple categories = “multiple” posts…

 * After upgrading from 2.0x to 2.1RC1 today I suddenly experience a problem regarding
   post categories. If I select multiple categories for a post, WordPress creates
   a duplicate post for each additional category. If I remove all categories except
   one, the post is back to “normal”, ie. not duplicated.
 * Any ideas?

 * nyogtha, I can’t seem to duplicate this issue though I am using 2.1-RC1+r7422.
   You encountered this problem with no plugins and one of the pre-installed themes?
   Is the post actually in the database twice?

 * I just discovered this problem, as well – multiple categories somehow duplicates
   the post once for each category, both on the blog itself and in the feed. It’s
   only in the database once, though, so if you try to delete the multiples, they
   all go away.

 * I found the problem…. turns out the Sideblog WordPress Plugin ([http://katesgasis.com/2005/10/24/sideblog/](http://katesgasis.com/2005/10/24/sideblog/))
   isn’t completely compatible with WP 2.1 after all. Once I turned that one off,
   the problem went away.

 * Thanks stitzelj, I was getting nutts. The Plugin stills on the list of “Plugins
   that work”, somebody tell Mat to remove it from there.

 * Thank Goodness I found the solution here. I searched far and wide to get to the
   bottom of the problem. Finally, the search words “WP problem with posts with 
   multiple categories” brought me here. Thanks stitzelj and others.

 * um … I never installed the sideblog plugin but have also experienced the issue.
   Using 2.1 and find the issue when I assign more than one category to a post.
 * I do use Category Visibility-RH Rev (by Rich Hamilton – [http://ryowebsite.com/?p=46](http://ryowebsite.com/?p=46))—
   which claims to NOT be compatible with 2.1 So anyone using this plugin may have
   to disable it or try the “beta” version of it for 2.1
