    Got tired of adding bits of code to functions.php. Never quite got those bits of code to work in child themes so that theme upgrades didn’t wipe my bits of code. I can’t be the only person to go down this route :).

    I used this plug-in with the Responsive theme and Desktop Server on W7 (will try OSX next) and it just works. I now have one menu item in any menu of my choice. When I’m signed out it says “Sign In”. When I’m signed in it says “Sign Out”. No mess, no fuss, no need for a widget. Brilliant.
