Add Widget to header

Hi,

I would like to add a widget or php code to the header in order to display a login / logout link. I got it partly working on the desktop version but hte link did not appear in the mobile responsive version.

Is there an easy way to add widget or code to the header (the part where the logo appears) so that it can become a widgeted area.
