Saving metadata from custom add-on in to recurring events

Hi – I used the CREATING AN EVENTS MANAGER ADD-ON : A COMPLETE WALKTHROUGH tutorial to add a featured check box on to the event page in admin.

My code is almost identical to that in the tutorial, I really only changed the name of the meta box and added the meta box to the recurring events page.
I read the post below, but a resolution was never posted and I was unable to figure it out based on info given.
