• I don’t know what to do or what version of WordPress I have. I purchased a domain from wordpress yrs ago hoping to start the world’s greatest website. Since then I’ve just been paying ($18) to renew it. Now I am really ready to use my site and I’ve researched a little. I think I want a managed VPS web host with Go Daddy or Gator and I know I want to drop the word “the” from my domain name and it’s time for renewal. Should I just buy the domain from Go Daddy or Gator without the “the” for .99 Or should I renew with WordPress for some reason and somehow alter or drop the “the” from the domain name? Someone please help because all of this stuff is new to me. What are my options? What is the best option?

In my opinion the best option is to keep the old domain name, register the new domain and then redirect the old domain to the new domain. This way both domains will open one and the same website. What you need to do is to register the new domain name (the registrar is not important) and then point both domains to the new hosting server that you plan to purchase from a hosting company. Thank you for taking the time to reply. Sounds like good advice.

I agree with @daniel. Get the new domain and since it’s already with WordPress, might as well purchase your second one with WordPress. That way, your domains are all consolidated in one place.
