• Hello Everyone,

My website has been up for about 2.5 months. I’m constantly second guessing my categories. My posts currently have dates on all of them and I wonder should they? Then I read about evergreen content and my thoughts are that those type topics should not have dates.
Along with helpful topics I also do a lot of “chasing the news” of animal stories that are currently in the news.
I don’t want to be tweaking it a year down the road. This is the first website I have ever done so hopefully all you smart experienced people can give me a few insights of how I can improve and settle down from spending my every waking moment thinking about changing everything. http://www.pettalknews.com
Thank you so much for your time.
    Rebecca

  • Your site is good with Dog posts, because I love to have a dog at my home. We don’t use cats as pets.
You should write some more good content about different types of dogs and training.
Some changes required, where Instagram photos are too big.
and the picture in the posts is also not good, you might change it to as gallery.
You had nice domain with great topics.

I seem to be typing the same thing in a lot of these replies lately, but…

I open the site, and the first thing at the top of the page is a ‘please subscribe’ banner. This is fine, It’s not obtrusive, it’s not a popup, and I can either ignore it, or just scroll down.

I choose to close it, I scroll down the page to see the hopefully interesting content, and Boom, bottom right corner up pops another big ‘please subscribe’ box.

This is the point at which I close the page, because I (like lots of other people) don’t like being harassed into subscribing to something before I even see what it is I am subscribing to.

JohnPope, I thank you very much for your honest feedback. I somewhat agree with you about popups so I will rethink it. Maybe the banner at the top is sufficient and not to harassing and might serve me better. Since I’m new at this and its my first website I’m guilty of following the advice on just about every website about increasing page visits by aggressively going after subscribers for a mailing list. I can only assume if I have annoyed you, it is certainly annoying others also.
Thank you for your time and feedback. I really appreciate your thoughts.

BritishTraveler – Thank you very much for reviewing my sight and for your helpful feedback. I’m very pleased you like my domain name and topics.
You have provided great advice about the Instagram pics and pics in posts. I will improve those areas.
I want to add additional topics to my site and your ideas of training and types of dogs will be the topics I add next.
Thank you again for your time. I really appreciate it.
