Hi Hannah,
I dont believe I changed anything during the migration. I did a copy and paste of all the files via FTP so nothing should have changed. And I am already running that plug-in.

Hey,
Looks like you are using jetpacks photon, That will massively slow down your site because it doesn’t allow the images to be cropped by the theme and thus you are loading huge images.

The site is loading a bit faster now that photon is disabled. Do you have any other recommendations to help to site load faster?

Your getting a lot of wait time from your server, That is something you can contact them about but regardless it looks like you have w3 total cache on but you haven’t enabled minify, page cache? database cache?

Can you perhaps tell me what’s going at pingdom for me? I have spent the past 2 weeks disabling plugins, running performance tests, adding cloudflare and I have no idea if the problem lies with my server, if I need to update Virtue (I am not sure how), or with WP 4.0.
I am at wits’ end so I’d appreciate any insights into how to fix this –it was not quite this bad before the update to 4.0. (But I have other sites on 4.0 not behaving like this.)

Please post in a new topic in the future.
First you need to update your theme version. Your using an older version so you should go to wordpress updates and update your theme and all your plugins.
Once you’ve updated then post a new topic and I can help problem solve your speed issues.

Thank you but I am unsure how to update. When i go to the update option I see “If updating from version 1.5.6 or earlier use this script to update your theme options.” But I am not sure what to do from 2.07. I’ve googled but find no advice, and I know that’s weird because you have excellent documentation. What am I missing?
jrotem, You should be able to update from your dashboard. In your admin area go to dashboard > updates and update from there.
