• Hi All

I am helping out my mate with his website. He had someone build it for him ages ago in WordPress. He is no longer in contact with that person, so when his contact form stopped working I jumped in to take a look.

I updated WordPress for him and reinstalled Contact Form 7 but it still didn’t work. So I ended up completely deleting it, but now I can see there is some code in a template somewhere that is spitting out a 404 message. See this page for an example. http://www.ryanjohn.com.au/wedding-catering/

Can anyone tell me where I might locate this code to delete it. I thought it would be in the ‘sidebar.php’ template but couldn’t see it there.

I am a novice just trying to help a friend, so the simpler your advice the better 🙂

    Thanks!

  • did you look in the widgets?

Hey have you checked out the page template file that, that page is using? It would most likely be in there or in a required php file that that page template is calling. So my advice in lamens term is if you don’t know how to tell which files are controlling the page template first … post the name of the page template here and I’ll try and help you figure it out :).

Or like janet4now said it could be in a widget. However the way that code is appearing makes me think it’s in the actual page template file. I could be wrong though. I have been wrong in the past … 🙂

I would have to agree with janet4now. It looks like a widget issue. Check your widgets for a widget with the Contact Form 7 shortcode. Most likely the shortcode needs to be corrected to match with a current form.

Yes, in the code it shows it as a “text widget” with a 404 not found.
