I’ve tried with WP 3.9.2 and again now with v4.0 several times. I’ve increased the wait time for a response to 300 seconds, and have 1220 images to be smushed. Smush.it says it should take 61 mins to complete.

I end up getting a ERROR: “This webpage is not available” message in my browser each time I run it after a few minutes. There does not appear to be any progress bar or update as to how many images have been processed, if any. The site simply stalls out.

I’ve tried deactivating 80% of my plugins, minus the essential ones, but to no avail.

Do I need to increase the seconds for response to match the 61 mins? ie 3660 seconds?

Again, I’ve tried running it about 5 times, at various times of day/night and no indication of any luck just yet. I assumed the response setting is simply for a per image basis and not the whole batch.

Please let me know what I may need to change, as I’d really like to get my site up to speed. Many thanks in advance!

  • Hi @globe_trottah,

Yes the settings are per image basis, so 300 is fine.

Have you tried using the Bulk Action in Media Library, with smaller set of images, i.e instead of smushing all images at once, try 10 from Bulk action.

Also, can you manually try smushing image at Yahoo smush service by pasting URL for a image from your site.

    Cheers

Hi Umesh! Thank you for your response! I only knew of the bulk smusher, and didn’t know you could select certain files individually (or in smaller groups) in the Library folder!

That’s fantastic, and seems to be the solution I was looking for! Many thanks for your help and suggestion!
