Privately published slug change. What happens?

    My post is currently privately published. I want to change the permalink of the slug (category remains the same; just a word needs to be changed) to something new.

    What happens? Should I redirect the older slug or can we change the slug in Privately Published post without redirection?

    Example: The slug of the privately published post – xyz.com/how-to/dance-in-the-rain
    I want to change it to : xyz.com/how-to/dance-after-the-rain
