@tdrock – What Permalinks structure under General > Permalinks are you referring to as not working?

Howdy. I actually misspoke, sorry, I meant to say it messed with my SHORTLINKS not my Permalinks.

So I noticed some shortlinks not working before but what lead me to my post above was I noticed a wonky link via my RSS feed. I have a line in my posts that links to my Disclosures page and I when I clicked it it lead me to a 404 page. But if I typed in the full link it was fine. So that’s when I went through the task of trying each plug-in one by one and again it was the NextGen Gallery plug-in that was causing the problem. Everything has been working fine since I deactivated the plug-in.

@tdrock – What does you “working” shortlink look like?

I’m not sure I understand what you mean and I certainly do not understand why you put working in quotes. “Working” as in WORKING. When people visit the site and click the link, they get the intended page, not a 404 error.

    Here’s the page

    Here’s the shortlink

When I reported the plug-in was broken for me, I was sent to a link asking how-so, so I responded. But for me this issue is resolved, so I’m going to move on from here.

@tdrock – “working” was in reference to the shortlink that worked and specifically what its structure was as there are a few different references to “shortlink” not working and we are trying to sort out which “shortlink” is being referred to.

IN your case, it is the standard “Default” WordPress Permalinks version of a shortlink (which should always resolve) … I have seen cases where it does not immediately for no particular reason but eventually does and continues to do so unrelated to NextGEN Gallery, but we still want to investigate the report all the same.

Other cases are using other “shortlink” structures which is not the issue you are seeing.

    Ah. I see.

Well I don’t know what else to say, I probably should’ve posted anything after I said it was broken LOL. But anyway I tried it again just now and it did it again just now. Turn plug-in on, links unhappy. Turn plug-in off, links happy.

@tdrock – I have just found this to happen with Multisite installations for pages only, but I am not able to reproduce this (yet?) for any other configuration and I am not seeing the shortlink reference in your pages to verify directly on your site … but as you have deactivated NextGEN Gallery I will leave this with you.

We do apologize for any inconveniences this may have caused.
