I have a former client with several websites that I used to do maintenance for, including bi-weekly backups for all of their sites to my Dropbox account. He terminated our agreement to start doing updates himself, and wouldn’t allow me access to his admins so I couldn’t turn off the backups. I have asked him to turn it off but apparently that hasn’t happened, and now I am using up space on my Dropbox account.

How do I stop his websites from using my Dropbox account??? Please help, I can’t allow this to continue, and I don’t see any proper way to do that without logging in to my Dropbox account and disabling it for all the websites that I manage.

    Thanks!

    Hi Treebeard,

    Here’s how: http://updraftplus.com/faqs/unlink-updraftplus-dropbox/

If you are using UpdraftPlus for paying clients, then please do consider upgrading to UpdraftPlus Premium – https://updraftplus.com/shop/updraftplus-premium/ – this is what makes it possible for us to fund FAQ content, support and indeed all versions of UpdraftPlus itself.

    Best wishes,

    Hi David,

I do see that section, but under the Apps Linked, it only lists “UpdraftPlus” as a single App. I don’t see how to unlink specific websites from using UpdraftPlus as the method of backup to my Dropbox account, and as I mentioned before, I only want to “stop his websites from using my Dropbox account”. I can’t delete UpdraftPlus from the list completely, or all the other sites I manage would stop using it as well.

From what I gather, even upgrading to Premium still would not solve this issue, as UpdraftPlus only appears once in the linked Apps. I am actually trying to unlink specific websites, not the app itself.

What else can I do if I don’t have access to the site, FTP, or hosting control panel anymore?

You will need to unlink the app, and then login to all your websites and then log in to and re-authorise all the websites that you wish to be linked. Unfortunately, Dropbox doesn’t provide a more fine-grained control to de-authorise websites individually… you have to de-authorise the lot, and then re-authorise the ones you want.

    Best wishes,
    David
