• We’ve been using Edit Flow to manage 4-8 weeks of scheduled completed posts and works in progress for a number of months, but we’ve repeatedly run into an issue where a post will be published although it was set to scheduled or another non-published status. It happens sporadically but we’ve been able to reproduce it a handful of times.

    Our steps to reproduce:
    # Create a new post via the calendar (defaults as a pitch)
    # Edit the post
    # Add content
    # Click “edit” next to “publish immediately”
    # Set date and time
    # Click “ok”
    # Click “schedule”

The expected result is that the post will be scheduled, but the actual result is that it’s occasionally published immediately. It’s happened enough that we’ve ruled out user error; I’ve reproduced it myself to confirm.

We’re always using the latest versions of WP and Edit Flow, and we’re not using any other plugins that hook into the publishing/scheduling mechanism, so I’m fairly certain there’s no conflict arising there.

We’ve also seen occasional issues where the publish/schedule button will not be visible or will show the wrong text label (eg, “publish immediately” when it should say “schedule”, etc). I don’t have any documented cases or steps to reproduce this though.

Any thoughts on this? We find Edit Flow immensely useful and would love to continue using it but we’ve had to disable it due to this.

Thanks. I’m happy to do any testing you think might be helpful.

  • I’m having the same issues being reported by the two users of our site who schedule content. Scheduled content is publishing immediately, and I am also seeing the mis-labeled buttons. Would love an update on this.

I’m seeing this issue as well, although the posts don’t publish as they’re pitches or drafts, they are removed from the calendar however. When I go to the “All Posts” page and sort by date to find them, the date has been changed to the current date as a “last edited” date.

    Repro steps:

1.) Create post through calendar for future date
2.) Open post through calendar using “edit” button
    3.) Edit
4.) Hit “Save” in publish window
5.) Return to calendar – post is no longer scheduled for future date
6.) Go to “All posts” page
    7.) Sort by date
8.) Post sorts by current date as “last edited” date.

I would expect the publication date to remain the same date as was previously scheduled unless I manually change the date with the post open for editing or drag and drop the posts through the calendar front end.

Thank you! This is a fantastic plugin, btw, and makes my life soooo much easier!

In addition to the above, the big blue button in the Publish window says “schedule,” but if you push it thinking it will schedule your post, it will publish it immediately to the public, disregarding the status of the post.
