• Hello:

Through a complicated series of events I have locked myself out of the log-in and admin pages in WordPress. I created a new wordpress site (for myself) in a folder (named WordPress) within the “Public” root folder of my server. I did this so that my “old” site could be running while I created my new site. Once I finished the site, I followed the directions on how to move a site from an existing folder to the main root. This included copying all wordpress files over to the “Public” root folder. So essentially I had my site in two locations on my server.

My direction following must not have been to good as the site did not come up. I called my Web Host and they made a URL re-direct so that typing in my website address will point to the site inside the WordPress folder I created. So now my web page shows my web site address plus “/wordpress” on the end. I guess I can live with this, although I would rather have just my website name http://www.tbdstudios.com.

The bigger problem is now when I go to the log in page it directs me to a blank page and I don’t have any access to the dashboard. My guess is that it is stuck somewhere between the two sets of files I have on my server. I looked around in the support forum, but didn’t see any similar problems. Any help would be much appreciated!

    Thanks!

  • Hi,

    Your site looks great:)

Usually, the fix for this login problem will be to edit a file from the backend as explained here.

However, since you wanted to have WordPress on the root of your domain, I would suggest you to create a new WordPress installation in the root, selecting the existing database of /Wordpress database while installing. You can edit the database after installing also, in case your host does not allow you to do that.

Once that is done, get the redirect removed, and copy the theme and /wp-uploads folder to your new WordPress install.
