Thank you taking the time to develop this plugin, it’s made using Retina so easy.

We recently ran into a problem using Sucuri Firewall and WP Engine hosting with your plugin.

They noticed that our site has an unusually large number of “HEAD” requests. On Sucuri’s CloudProxy setup, their system sees this as a form of attack and thus blocked WP Engine IPs. On WP Engine’s servers, these requests will flood the server with requests and create 504 errors, essentially taking down our site.

This code only happens to run on Mac OS in Google Chrome. You can view the “HEAD” requests if you inspect element on Google Chrome after scrolling down a bit on our homepage: piklist.com.

Please advise if there is a solution.

    Hey Steve,

Congratulations for taking down websites hosted by WP Engine 😉 Didn’t they contact you for that?

HEAD requests come from the fact you are using the retina.js period. I am not supporting the script directly unfortunately so you can check their GitHub.

Why don’t use another method? PictureFill is the best method to use these days, you didn’t try it?

    Hey Jordy–

PictureFill works great. Totally fixed the problem. Thanks so much.
