BACKGROUND: Just upgraded to 2.6.2. Tutorials are excellent – thanks. Deleted entire wp-admin and wp-include folders, uploaded new ones. Uploaded all new files in the root. Saved my wp-content folder, updated only the default theme.

PROBLEM: Everything works fine except in Admin/Write. In the Post section the toolbar buttons are present, but goofed up, both in Visual and HTML. (The Add Video and Add Media buttons are x’d out.)

Image: click here.(Scroll to see both, and note the funny Browse Happy button in 3rd image.)

CONFESSION: I know the x’d-out buttons mean images are missing, but can’t figure out where (or names of image files). The Browse Happy button is a mystery. I must have bungled some part of the install.

REQUEST: What I would really appreciate help with is getting the Write toolbar (Visual) back. Many thanks to all who support WP.

  • I would start with the easiest solution first. Re-download 2.6.2, delete those wp-admin and wp-include directories again, and re-upload the fresh ones.

Your problems could run deeper than that, but I’d start there!

Hey, jleuze, thank you very much for that simple suggestion. The law of parsimony kicks in again! The simplest approach is usually the best… you nailed it. I’ve never uploaded just part of a WP installation before… didn’t know whether that was okay to do. Some of the files must have been corrupt, or didn’t ftp to my server properly. The toolbar is there now, and the Browse Happy button works, too… clearly, some graphic files got dropped or were broken. Best to you!

No problem Nick, glad to be of assistance!
