Before I go into my first theme editing experience…

    I have a couple of questions.

    First, I want to do something simple. I was looking for a seriously minimal looking theme that was flush left on the page? Do these exist in blogs? I don’t see them.

    Second, the blog is supposed to look like the other pages on my site, and be very discrete…

    I know some blogs have the functionality where you and just add your own header. I’d like to add the header and nav from my site and have the navs work as they do on the live site. Can you do this or do you have to default on a tab style? (I figured you could just with html and image maps.

    If these are possible, I’d like to figure out how and make a blog for the “band” and “shows” pages on the site.

    Any feedback?

    Then start building a theme based on your existing design/layout.
    Theme_Development
    Blog_Design_and_Layout

    Find a theme that is the closest to what you want, and start modifying it.

    Hmm.. okay yeah I think I understand the general concepts.

    What I don’t get is to make an image of mine clickable with links so I can have my header image have the nav on it.

    That would ultimately be the biggest thing for me.

    I don’t get that either.
    For having the headr image clickable (= link back to the main page) search for “clickable header”.

    I don’t understand what you mean by having your nav on an image…

    If you check out the site I linked, there’s a header image up there. To the right of the “fictionist” part is another image of hand drawn navigation. That’s just an image with a link map done to it so certain hotspots are defined in the html to function as links to other pages.

    I want to do the same thing. Essentially, have the same head navigation so it looks just like the rest of the site with the header. The blog is going to serve the purposes of 2 of those pages in the site… but we want them to blend real well.

    check out http://www.fictionist.net/blog . I put this theme up and want to mess with it to get our look. You’ll notice they have a link on 2 parts of that header.. the rss logo and the picture that takes you to the home page… that seems like the same functionality.

    And what stops you from using the exactly same header/menu in your blog’s design? I don’t see any problem here.

    lol.. sorry I may be getting confusing with my words, as I’m not adept at this stuff..

    Nothing is stopping me. I want to use it. I just need to know how I can make the navigation clickable to link to other pages.

    I know how to upload the image to wordpress and style it to use the header. That’s easy. I don’t know how to turn those spots on the image into links.

    And that is NOT a WordPress question. You do it exactly in the same way as you did it on that main site of yours.

    Okay so the answer then is that I don’t really code..

    I can build websites with Dreamweaver but without it I’m lost.

    I don’t know where I would put that code and how I would write it without the proper tools.

    Any direction or help?

    that’s called an image map. and thats a basic HTML question — there are millions of sites online that provide learning opportunities for basic HTML authoring.

    Use google. Seriously.
