I´ve been looking through all plugin settings, but cannot find an option about how to display each photos description:

    My favourite setting:
On slide shows it should always show (presently with mouse-over only)
On (under) single photos it should also show!

And how can I change the size of it? It is presently so small, that one can hardly read it. Plus it also cuts off most of the text.

Also, is there a way to define myself how long each photo will be shown? Haven´t found that setting option either.

@worldwidej – There is no option to show the image description with the NextGEN Basic Slideshow. You are most likely seeing the image “Title” attribute and the amount of time is is displayed would be browser relevant.

To show the description under single images, you should consider using the Basic Thumbnails “captions” template which will display the description.

The size of the “Title” tool-tip is not easily managed but may be possible with some custom JavaScript and custom CSS. The description from the captions template should be modifiable with custom CSS as well.

As far as how long an image will be displayed in the slideshow, have you looked under Gallery > Gallery Settings > NextGEN Basic Slideshow … Interval?

This is also available under the Customization panel when you use the IGW (“green button”) so you may need to re-edit your existing slideshows to change this … and possibly clear your image cache under Gallery > Other Options > Miscellaneous to have this take effect immediately.

    Thanks!

Thank you very much for your quick response :)!

I am too much of an amateur to do absolutely any JavaScript/CSS changes. I can only do 100% copy and paste.

Have found the interval setting, thanks. But I meant rather the seconds the “description” was shown. It is in German, so not sure if I translated it to English properly. It shows “Alt & Titel Text / Beschreibung” and Beschreibung = Description is, what is shown, if added. If not, just the Titel (which is an ugly photo number, if not overwritten one by one). But okay, I won´t be able to change this.
I think I can live with the slide show not being able to show text.

After your hint I have clicked kind of everything under the Basic Thumbnail setting to “on”. Now the single photos do show everything mentioned in the above paragraph. That is exactly how I need it.

I am working with TablePress which automatically and conveniently offers to upload photos from NextGEN galleries :). Unfortunately, those single photos do not show any of the above anymore.

The only workaround I can presently think of, is to work on every single photo with a graphic program to add a description to the file, before uploading it. Very time-consuming though. Will see what I can do.

Again, thanks for your immediate support!

@worldwidej – You are very welcome!

I am not familiar with the TablePress / NextGEN Gallery connection but it is good to read about other providing functionality to use with our plugin.

    Thanks!
