    Hi,

After recently upgrading from version 5.4.1.1 to version 5.5.3.1 the category listing page stopped working. The category list page worked perfectly fine in the old version but is now displaying a Category not found error page. I’ve checked the database and WP’s backend–everything checks out. The categories are listed in the events category page and can be created and edited, they’re also selectable from a single event. I’m not sure why this is happening and hope someone might have an idea. Nothing has changed apart from the upgrade.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Hi,

Have you tried re-saving your permalinks?

Thanks, tried it but it didn’t work. Here’s the error screen that I’m getting:

    hi,

how about if you create brand new pages and assign those as new category pages? you can call them whatever you want to begin with, reassign them in EM settings, and test them out, just to see if it works.

Then, you can rename the slugs etc. of these pages and make them children of the events page, hopefully it’ll still work.

Thanks angleo, but that didn’t seem to work either.

just to narrow down the problem and help us debug the issue is it possible to try the following temporarily:

    – deactivating all other plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).
    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems

    Hi Angelo,

Apologies for the delay, but I’ve tried the above:

    – deactivate all plugins–same behaviour
    – switching to the default twentythirteen theme–same behaviour

    Any other suggestions?

    Thanks!

that’s weird since this works on our test sites; can you try to deactivate/activate EM?

    Thread Starter mjalonzo

    (@mjalonzo)

Yes, I’ve tried deactivating/activating as well as uninstalling and re-installing. I suspect it’s conflicting with something in their site; I’m guessing in the database, since it doesn’t seem to be caused by any plugin/theme conflicts.

Is Enable categories set to Yes under Events > Settings > General > General Options?

Even if it is, it might be worth switching it to No, saving your permalinks, then switching back to Yes and re-saving them again.

Thanks for the tip caimin_nwl, I tried that and it’s still displaying “not found”.

is it the same when you create new categories?

    Yes.

Can you post a live link to your site?

    (@mjalonzo)

The current live site is visible here and is still running version 5.4.1.1:

The upgraded version’s running in a local environment so I can’t share the link, unfortunately.

After further testing, it appears that the problem crops up at version 5.5 and up. Version 5.4.4 and below seem to work as expected.
