  • I’ll withdraw that link later – thanks for letting me know 🙂

If I get a chance, I’ll also play with the code …. there were some suggestions for different methods of this on the hackers list in the last couple of days..

This should somehow be integrated into WordPress… so we can just turn it on as an option.

I finally managed to work it out, with a little bit of help from http://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/asides2/ and http://codex.wordpress.org/User:Matt/photomatt.net/index.php

I think it was just the formatting on podz page that was messing things up… If anyone wants to pick apart my index page, here is the source, it might be useful

aaronshaf, that would be a great option I cONCUR!

But then there isnt the great sense of achievement when you finally get them working… 😛

I’m not sure they should be in the source… but it would be great as a plugin.

I know next to nothing about how plugins work, so I don’t even know if it’s possible. But it would be cool.

What I would really like (that is kind of the same idea) is a mini-blog or link-blog that I could use in my sidebar. Even if it was just a specific category that showed up in that separate area.

Thanks gregorsmith – I’ll try to have a look later and adjust the font size if needed.

As for adding things to WP …… I’d disagree.
Partly because of all the many requests for different things not a single one has been something I use so it would effectively be code bloat, and partly because I reckon WP should ship as sleek code to which you can add as you see fit.
It’s not like there aren’t any guides is it ?

    😉

Thanks Podz. I tried that one about a week ago and just couldn’t get it to fly.

    I’m using 1.5 … and I think it’s for 1.2

True, it is….. though it has been made to work with 1.5, and I’ve forgotten just who in #wordpress said they done the job….. if I find out and they’ll post the code, I’ll post back.

sweet. You’ve got me on a searching mission then too. I’ll poke around.

    Try http://russ.innereyes.com/2005/01/the-rustasides-wp-15-plugin/ 😀

It’s a really simple one, but it works well enough for me, and only requires you to add a single tag into your template.

Thats a very interesting plugin. I like it a lot.

Though it’s a little different then what I’m looking for. Each of the asides in this plugin must be assigned to a blog entry… I would like the assides or mini-blog entries to be their own entitiy within the database.

Im sure I’m not using the correct terminology, but does that make sense?

Because it uses the custom fields for it’s input, yes, it’s limited to being attached to an existing post. Like i wrote in the thingy, it’s all i need for mine 🙂

You want Matt’s Asides fer sure 😉

pardon my ignorance but what are “asides”?
