  • I don’t think that will matter that much. There’s always “ideas” saying that doing X will rank you higher in Google soon… and most of them turn out to be false.

    having said that, this one has a possibility of being true. I can see that Google would think that a site is more “trustworthy” if it’s served purely over SSL. Then again it could also be a really good marketing strategy for people that sell SSL certificates… 😉

    It might, but not ‘enough’ for most of us to care yet.

    Well, you have to remember that SSL does slow down page load times and this can give you a “negative” in points so to speak with Google ranking. So for me, this is a bit silly to worry about right now.

    I would say if you have no reason to have SSL on your site (checkout/cart/sensitive info) then do not get SSL just because you think it might rank you higher in Google.
