Anyone have a solution to stop these spam registrations?

    Hey Bloke,
Thank you for your report. This is not an issue related to WP e-commerce. There are spam solution plugins. You can always disable user registration, which is a default feature in WordPress.

But I can’t disable user registration because I am using CIM with Authorize.net

You are referring to Brute Force Attacks. It’s common because every spammer, bot, and black-hatted jerk knows that every WP site uses the same registration action (‘wp-login.php?action=register’)…unless… it doesn’t.

Here is a solution that worked great for me. I simply changed that default URL and haven’t had a single spammy request for registration since. (Link to step-by-step solution below).

Also, I used a mod_rewrite to redirect any spammy jerk trying to get in through the wp-login url to a secure page inside my site that you really have to be a human being to navigate through.

This isn’t a WPeC issue, it’s a WP issue that will likely never, every go away on it’s own. Your hosting provider likely has some safeguards to monitor heavy hacking. If they don’t they are just as jerky and the jerks that spam.

I faced the same issue and resolved by enabling the funCaptcha in wordpress default registration page..

My Site: Aesthetic Today Spa Deals website
You can test the captcha in the following link, Aesthetic Today Partner Registation Link

Please let me know for any further fix regarding this..

I also tried the wp_nonce_url(), this doesn’t helped me..

For my website Aesthetic Today I copied the api key from FunCaptcha website and applied in FunCaptcha settings..

    Hope this helps.. Thanks

it is a wordpress issue but also a classipress issue considering classipress is reliant on wordpress ,and as classipress needs user registration enabled .how on earth would you get new members ? there is a solution that will stop most registration spam without any plug ins. simply edit the register page url by adding “-” anywhere in “register” part ie “reg-ister” ,the same goes for the login page “log-in” .its not perfect but it works for most automated spam .
another tip also is if your running a wordpress blog as a website and you dont want any trace of a blog or comments footprint s ,you can completely delete all of the information in the comment.php file and save it .you can do this by hovering over the paintbrush on your wordpress admin panel and go to the theme editor ,on the right ,lookung in alphabetical order ,you will see comment.php file . remove everything from that file and save the empty file.
i hope this helps ,constant spam attacks are pretty annoying and is the only real down point of running a blog .on any platform !
