• I have paid plenty of money for plugins or themes that help save me time or effort. However, this plugin deceptively says it’s free when you have to pay for a separate plugin to import the csv that it’s created. To have the functionality broken up is a ridiculously obvious ploy to manipulate money from someone stupid enough to reward such tactics. The “free” version has a bunch of restrictions already! Why wouldn’t you offer one plugin and just tell people it costs money? What a waste of my time.

  • Hi gumbotron, our Plugin is an exporter, it exports, I’m sorry it doesn’t do backflips or import store details back into WooCommerce; if it did that I’d change the Plugin name to WooCommerce – Store Import & Export.

We offer the basic store exporter for store users who do further reporting in Excel based on exported details, as we build new features into our Pro Plugin we also drop existing Pro features to our basic exporter here (e.g. Users export will be coming in the next major release as are additional Product details that we have integrated (e.g. Vendors, Brands, etc.). 🙂

The point is I suggested that a less shady and insulting business practice would be to treat your potential customers like adults and tell them about what you feel is fair compensation up front, before they’ve invested time and effort and run against your deadend pay wall.

Never said you shouldn’t charge for your work, never uttered the word backflips.

This is like offering Free Hamburgers but when customers go to pick up the meal, they’re charged a Food Pickup Fee equal to the price of the hamburger. I guess some customers may be thrilled just to order burgers for free and walk away, but I’d bet most actually want to go through with the whole process and – you know – eat the hamburgers.

No, not really. They’re offering you a free “Store Exporter” and you got a store exporter. It’s more like showing up to the offer of free hamburgers and expecting free fries too.

Rating a plugin with only 1 star because it only does what it describes is not fair to the developers of the plugin, and it misinforms potential users.

I’m going to close this particular thread, as it’s really not a productive review, nor a productive discussion.

The developer provided what they did for free with the plugin, and they are under no obligation to provide anything else.

If you have a valid support concern, the plugin’s support forum can be found at http://wordpress.org/support/plugin/woocommerce-exporter
