2014 theme doesn't look anything like the preview.

  • 2014 theme doesn’t look anything like the preview. The pictures are missing and the links seem to be different. I’m using InstantWP so I don’t know if that has something to do with it. I’m also new to WordPress.

    Thanks

Have you gone through this http://codex.wordpress.org/Twenty_Fourteen ?

Yeah I have but my theme doesnt even look like that. I havent got around to publishing the site yet.

What ever the problem is, its not limited to 2014 either. Other themes dont want to load the images at all. 2011 theme seems to work though….?!?

Hi there, most themes don’t come with default images – you need to upload your own, either under Appearance > Header, or when building your posts and pages.

A few themes like Twenty Eleven come with a set of header images you can chose from, or you can upload your own if you want something else.

the links seem to be different.

    Which links do you mean?

In most cases you’ll need to start adding posts, pages, and widgets to get your site looking more like the demo.

Let me know how it goes!

That makes sense but it for example if you go to http://codex.wordpress.org/Twenty_Fourteen I cant even follow it because there’s no layout to choose from. The links in the demo show a HOME page but when I load the theme there’s no HOME page there. I could add a HOME page but its not included in the theme.

    Thanks

Hi there, by default, a WordPress site’s front page – in any theme – displays your latest posts, in reverse chronological order.

If you prefer to display a static page instead, you can create the page, and then select it from the dropdown under Settings > Reading.

There is a full guide to how to set up the site’s front page here:

Set a Static “Home” Page (Front Page)

It’s for WordPress.com, but it’s pretty much the same on self-hosted WordPress sites.

    Hi,i’m new in wordpress.
I have a question… why it doesn’t display corectly installed themes?
I posted a link http://postimg.org/image/f0xw1nvn3/ with a print screen of Twenty Fourteen theme and look what is diplaying. It happens with all themes! Anyone knows why? I need answers.

    Thank you in advice!
