Hi,

When running Wordfence Live Scan on a previously hacked WP site I’m getting the following error:

[Date] fseek() [function.fseek]: stream does not support seeking (2) File: /home/markm/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wordfence/lib/wfUtils.php Line: 506

The error is repeated 3 times and then the scan freezes and does not complete.

I have searched Google and other forums and have seen this error reported but not resolved. Any advice?

Hi,

Please put Wordfence into debug mode. Instructions here:

http://docs.wordfence.com/en/Wordfence_options#Enable_debugging_mode_.28increases_database_load.29

Then do a scan and check where the scan stops. It looks like WF is trying to open a file that is actually not a file but a device driver or something else. Debug mode will let you see which file it gets stuck on.

Hey Mark,

Thanks for the advice, it was right on the money.

The site in question is one I’ve been asked to clean up after a hack and it looks like there was a symlink in one of the default theme folders, and this was what WF was choking on.

Unlinked the symlink, WF happy.
