• I don’t know why this issue has occurred, but every time I want upload a single pic via the interface, it always fails to create a thumbnail. Here are the error messages:

Warning: imagecreatefromjpeg() [function.imagecreatefromjpeg]: gd-jpeg: JPEG library reports unrecoverable error: in /home/jam/public_html/site/wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/lib/thumbnail.inc.php on line 183

Warning: imagecreatefromjpeg() [function.imagecreatefromjpeg]: ‘/home/jamal/public_html/site/wp-content/gallery/quick-pictures/2t_photoshop-cs3-logo_0.jpg’ is not a valid JPEG file in /home/jam/public_html/site/wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/lib/thumbnail.inc.php on line 183

    Follow thumbnails could not created.

2t_po_0.jpg (Error : Create Image failed. Check memory limit)

So all of those error messages appear, but when I checked the image was there, but not just in thumbnail form.

    ah ok, now it’s uploading.

but there is no thumbnail when i insert the picture into my post, all there is, is the line of code – is there any way to get the thumbnail so I can adjust it?

No , you can adjust the thumbnails in the option, but not in the editor

I am receiving the same error, I reuploaded the files, still didn’t work.

    Any suggestions?

My files range between 30-80kb, so very small.

    Hi,

have the same problem as well. But only with jpg’s that are compressed/optimised with the RIOT plugin in Irfanview.

I upload 5 images through FTP, it will create 1 thumbnail and gives warnings like below on all others:
[BTW: no such warnings on the original images that are 5 times the size!!! – thumbnails are created on the fly]

Warning: imagecreatefromjpeg() [function.imagecreatefromjpeg]: ‘/home/hvault22/public_html/embraceau/wp-content/gallery2/food/Pic 0400.jpg’ is not a valid JPEG file in /home/hvault22/public_html/embraceau/wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/lib/thumbnail.inc.php on line 183

    Any help seriously appreciated!!

Still no updates on this issue?
It seems a fairly good plugins, but it is a shame if we cannot upload a picture onto a picture plugin ^_^

    same problem here

There are very often a memory problem, if this is not the case and you receive a gd-jpeg: JPEG library reports unrecoverable error message, I suggest to upload your images per FTP and test it than again…

I had (Error : Create Image failed. Check memory limit) but only with some jpg files, which were all shot with sony ericsson p990i. GIMP said “Corrupt JPEG data: 6 extraneous bytes before marker 0xd9” on all those files. Resaving them with GIMP (or any other photo editor i guess) solved it for me.

I have the same problem, which I cannot create thumbnails due to memory limit issue.

I’ve checked my system memory usage, and it is 173MB used and 850MB available. My current memory_limit in php.ini is 256M, and the wordpress 2.8.1 consumes 13.42MB. Neither totally unistalling nggallery then reinstalling it again, or even changing memory_limit to 512M solved the problem.

Please tell me what I can do. Thank you very much.

The thickbox effect has stopped working on my galleries since I upgraded to the latest version. Any ideas of what might have caused that Alex?

Forget that last message. I used the reset function and it works now πŸ™‚

Although it now works with “shutter” selected, not “thickbox” as before
