Unable to import htaccess file after update | WordPress.org

Installed the plugin several weeks ago to import some 301 redirects, worked great! Updated today to the latest version (Version 2.3.6) and attempted to import a fresh batch of redirects in an htaccess file, exactly as I’d done before, and received this error:

Fatal error: Cannot instantiate abstract class Red_FileIO in /home/account/public_html/wp-content/plugins/redirection/redirection.php on line 294

Rolled back to Version 2.3.4 and was able to successfully import the file. I plan to continue using the older version for the time being, but just thought I’d report the issue. Thanks for the great plugin!

I’m having the same issue with the latest version (2.3.6). After importing a htaccess text file like I have previously have before, the plugin page turns plain white and nothing gets imported. Downgrading back to 2.3.4 fixed it for me as well.

I too am experiencing this issue. Since I see other threads on here where the developer asked that issues be opened up on github I opened an issue for it here:

I too can confirm that the 2.3.6 version import function is broken. I downgraded to 2.3.5 and I successfully imported 330+ redirects in just a few seconds. I marked this plugin as incompatible with WP 3.9.1.

I however, did not receive a fatal error, just a blank Redirection plugin page.

Fixed in 2.3.7

cinemafunk, marking a plugin as incompatible should only be used if the plugin doesn’t work, not to signal a bug
