2.0 seems to be slowing site down considerably

Nextgen 2.0 seems to have slowed my site down by an average of 10 seconds! When I deactivate it, that’s the difference in the home page load time.
When testing the speed, that’s the amount of time added by something listed as http://www.humortimes.com/nextgen-static.
I don’t have any of the plugins listed as conflicting with Nextgen.
What can I do about this?
