  • I’m trying to put together a proper wordpress 2.0 ebuild for Gentoo and I noticed that the only version of WordPress available for download at any given time is “latest.tar.gz”. Is there a place that has older versions and/or lists the current version with a proper filename (i.e. wordpress-2.0.tar.gz)?

I’d hate to make an ebuild for 2.0 that will download 2.0.1 at some point in the future. It sounds like a good thing, but it messes with version tracking and such.

  • If the “latest” will change to something else, 2.0 will end up here:

I came to this forum looking for an answer to the same question. My reasons for not using the “latest.tar.gz” file is the same as riskable. I use Gentoo, too, and wanted to create an ebuild that didn’t require me downloading the gzipped tar file manually. Can we get a direct, static link to WordPress 2.0? Please?

I was going to edit my post, but it seems editing is off. So…

The Codex mentions using a file called wordpress-2.0.tar.gz, yet I can find that file no where. Either the Codex is wrong or the WordPress download page is missing the link to said file.
