# 2 default categories?

 * I was wondering whether it is possible to have 2 default categories, ie a new
   post automatically defaults to TWO categories, instead of just one.
 * Right now the only option is selected by a dropdown menu, which leads me to believe
   the above is not possible…but thought I’d ask.

 * Quick answer: no.
    Long answer:…..still no.
 * If you are familiar with PHP programming and really want to dig into the core
   files, I’m sure you could put in something that would force two defaults, but
   then you still would have to unclick one every time you post, instead of unclicking
   the default and clicking the one you want. And when you get 42 categories, then
   you will be wishing that NO default was set because you are tired of clicking
   twice.
 * Ah, it’s a mess no matter which way you look at it.
 * If you use [Press It bookmarklet](http://codex.wordpress.org/press_it), no categories
   are selected.

 * Get the Greasemonkey extension for FireFox, learn JavaScript, and modify this
   to do what you like. That’s what I’d do!
