Hi Guys, probably a stupid question but here goes… I’m no techy but am just getting to grips with wordpress, i understand when a page is opened, then re-opened at a later date, the computer may call from a cached copy of the page, thus loading it quicker, is this fundamentally what WP Super Cache does?

My main question being, when using WP Super Cache, is the initial page speed slower as it is the first time the page has been viewed and there is no cached version, but upon further views of the same page, it is then when it loads quicker as there is a cached version?

    hope it makes sence… 🙂

  • Hi!

You pretty have it! The only difference is that the cached pages are static HTMl pages stored on your server, which is much faster to load than letting WordPress serve the pages on every hit. You are correct that the cahced version is only generated once someone visits a particular post or page; note though, that you can “preload” all posts and pages into the cache using the “Preload” tab in your Super Cache settings. If you have any questions about this, let me know!
