Add new categories

I have an issue where when using “Press This” tool to create a post and I want to use a category that was previously added to my list, I can’t scroll down to make the selection. I end up “Add New Categories” which then will pull the category up and place the check mark in the box. Problem is that I then have multiple categories of the same name. Why can’t you scroll down to select an existing category? A drop down selection box much like the capability to select the parent category would be great. But if you use the “Parent Category” drop down menu, it appears that you have to create a new sub-category. Is there something to do to scroll down to select a category without having to go to the Parent box to select the parent category?
