Same here! One particular media (gif image) is multiplying every time i scroll down the media library page.
Funny thing is that it just shows that is multiplying in media library, but it doesn’t really do in media folder on server side. There is just a single copy of the mentioned gif file.

I resolved this issue updating WPML plugins to the latest version. then you can upload photos to media without duplication and all works well. Then you should delete all the wrong created images/links in media library. You can do it “quickly” by the bulk actions and showing 80-100 files per page in screen options. Take care and don´t delete the valid images.
I think that there are faster ways to do it via Mysql but for beginners as me is easier and more safety to do it manually.
You have instructions in order to update the WPML plugins in WPML pages.

I have had the same problem, I uploaded some images and now I have 100’s of them, each time I delete them they just re-appear immediately, I updated all Plugins including the WPML Plugins but still the problem is there.
Can someone please help me.

Recently I uploaded only 2 images and now I have more than 7900’s of them in my MEDIA LIBRARY.
I was trying to delete all the wrong created images in media library by the bulk action. System responded „error in deleting“ and delete only one image…there are still few thousands to go…….
Can someone please help me as soon as possible. Thanks in advance, Marina
New WPML version solved my issue but I had to reinstall whole platform. It was not a big deal because it happened on a beginning of development, unfortunately abandoned few days later…
You might try disabling WPML Media because that one cause the trouble. While disabled, try to fix faulty content in Media Library. Delete new media files and re-upload them once again.
If you succeed, do not reactivate WPML Media plugin until update whole WPML all together.

I woould like to follow Marinko’s advise, but it is not possible..same error in deleting……..today i have 21.000 items in my MEDIA LIBRARY….tommorrow it will be probably 30.000 …I’ve paid my THEME and a lifetime WPML…am I so stupid or what?
