Does prettyphoto plugin work automatically with standard WP galleries?

    I installed the prettyphoto plugin on a fresh install of wp today, using the Divi theme. I am able to call prettyphoto with a regular text link, such as

    <a title="Watch Trailer" rel="prettyphoto" href="http://youtu.be/IWpyMb_ClWM?width=960&height=540">Watch Trailer</a>

    but a simple post with a gallery of images will not activate prettyphoto on the same page as the link that works. (or any other page.)

    I could really use a fix for this, need to launch the site. Please advise.

    I read elsewhere that it does not work with standard galleries. I instead tried Royal Pretty Photo and this seems to work, although it adds pretty photo to the url once you click a button, which is lame for most purposes.
