  • Hm… Did you try to disable all plugins? Rename the plugins folder to another name and try again.

have you tried logging in through the portal on that homepage? It seems that, that login prompt is active (as it did give me an “incorrect username/pass” error when I typed in some gibberish.

I did check the wp-login.php prompt and getting the same thing…you hit “login” and it does absolutely nothing.

Have you checked into things like the functions.php or wp-config.php to see if somebody manually locked out the wp-admin login screen? Some people do this to help keep users where they should be. (You would need FTP access for these)

@endlyss Thank you for your prompt reply. I usually try to log in through the ADMIN portal on the home page. Nothing happens, even when I type in gibberish. I don’t get an error. I don’t get anyting. I don’t even get the little turning circle indicating the website is being contacted.

@ellp. Thank you for your reply. I haven’t tried to disable plugins. I didn’t insert any, so I didn’t think of that. I would then have to go to the ftp login, wouldn’t I? I don’t have that login or password. I tried to use the WP login and password but it didn’t work. I will have to contact the original creater to ask for the login.

@endlyss – I also tried from my work computer, and still, nothing happened. (different address, different internet connection)

    Hmm… Strange.

It seems that something is serious broken… My recommendation is create a backup of everything (database and files) and re-install all from zero. Try to get the FTP credentials to do it so.

And don’t forget to tell how are the things going 😉

I went ahead and tried again and still getting the same thing.
    On this screen:
    Screenshot Here

Absolutely nothing happens when i click the log in button.

On this screen, however, it does at least give me the error.
    Screenshot Here
(As you can see in the screenshot, it is showing me the “wrong username or password)

As you mentioned in your message to ellp, go nab the FTP Login info so that you can look around in there (just be careful when you do this…and make a backup of the site, before changing anything). While you are getting that from him/her, I would ask them if they set up anything that would be causing this.

I apologize that I do not know exactly what is going on, though.

Did you tried to recover your password?

    (@hsnza)

@ellp I will try as soon as I get the FTP. I couldn’t before because I never changed the contact info when I first took over the site. So it us still set to the person who used to maintain the site.

I have the ftp login, but I keep getting an error “COULD NOT CONNECT TO SERVER”. I’ve tried another ftp login and I can connect. I don’t know what this means now. The site is definitely still active. ???

I also was given the server IP address and password. I tried going to that, but all it does is take me to an email admin site where it says there is no catchall email, but gives the SMTP server info for webmaster@hsnetwork.co.za. Is this the email address that the FORGOT YOUR PASSWORD email would go to?

The theme for your site is customized so it is very difficult to trouble shoot. We only support themes from our repository.

Also your version of WP is 3.7.3 and is very outdated. You need to upgrade as soon as possible.

I suggest you contact whoever constructed your site.

I’m sure this is more general and not related, but I have the next two day to login and do my site. But, Word Press doesn’t recognize my username or email – mryanone, or mryanone@gmail.com.

So, now, I’m locked out for 15 more minutes.

But, I have tried all emails and had my login and pw written down, so I know it’s supposed to be that…and EXIST.

A guy built this for me, so I am waiting to see if he happened to have modified the login but I’m sure he’ll say no.

How can a login and/or an email that was used to set this up no longer exist? Is there a person that can look into this?

WordPress out of the box does not do this. This is something your guy added.
