    Hi there,

I’ve noticed the following problem with this plugin.
Whenever I ‘forget’ to fill in the Location I get a message on top, didn’t fill in the following forms. Please set Location etc. etc. all nice and well.

So I’m like oh right nearly forgot, fill in the forms press publice for the event and the location is gone.

The V on the no physical location is suddenly turned on, eventhough I didn’t turn it on. So okay turn it off, fill in the location once more. Press Safe and it changed back to the no physical location.

So I thought okay maybe it’s the location, tried changing it to an already existing location by choosing from the small drop down menu. Fills in all well, moment I press safe, again the no physical location is activated.

So for some reason, whenever you forget to fill in the location at the moment you press publish you can start over because you cannot manage to change the location afterwards anymore.

I made a new event, copied pasted all the information, filled in the same location at the first time. Then published it and it had no problem at all. So my best guess is, that whenever you get the message you haven’t filled in a location the plugin decides that the event has no location and doesn’t let you alter the location anymore either.

Any guess on what could be causing this error?

Oh nearly forgot, It’s not a problem with a combination of plugins, themes, etc tried out with the standard twenty twelve theme and no other plugins activated.

I am also using this plugin on two different websites, so for fun I tested it on the second one as I never forgot the location there but it showed the same problem.

So I am fairly sure that this is a problem with this plugin.

Thanks in advance for all the help 🙂

    hi,

did you check your user capabilities at events > settings > general eg. edit_locations ?

    (@chibichiii)

I checked it, all is activated and well in the settings. So that’s not the problem I’m afraid.

I’m not able to reproduce this issue. What version of Events Manager are you using?

    (@chibichiii)

I am using the latest version, everything is up to date.
Like I said, it only happens if you forget to put in a location and try to publish the post without one. Then you get told you forgot to put it in. After that the Location will not safe.

As far I can tell, I’m doing what you’re doing but not having the same problem.

Does this happen if you test while running the default WordPress theme and with all other plugins deactivated?

    Could be something interfering…

As stated in the second post 🙂
Yes I’ve tested it with the standard Theme Twenty Twelve and without any other plug ins even installed on a second site.

Really have no idea what could otherwise be interfering.
I’ve got one more thing I could try to test out.

Also the problem consists on two different websites.
If I find out anything new what could be causing it I’ll let you know.
Thanks for the assistance so far.

hmm, am not able to reproduce this either and this works for me. Are you using multisite, buddypress or normal wordpress installation?

    Thread Starter chibichiii

    (@chibichiii)

I am using a normal wordpress installation, the website is ‘http://test.le-network.nl/’ I am however using WPML and the WPML Connecter for the Event Manager, perhaps the problem may lay with that?

I forgot to mention that before as I turned all other plugins off, but WPML and the WPML Connecter I would rather not turn off as then I’d have to reconnect all the translations again.

Just realized maybe there’s a glitch in the connecter that’s causing the issue.

When you mention “WPML Connecter for the Event Manager” do you mean the plugin below?

Yes indeed, that one was recommended when I installed Event Manager because I was using WPML. So I installed it along with the Event Manager, I haven’t experienced any other complications other then when I forget to set the location. It’s not a big drama or anything just a little inconvenient and strange however now I just don’t forget to set it so I don’t run into this issue.

I just tested this with both WPML and the compatibility plugin active and I didn’t get the error you mentioned.

I’m also not getting the “This event does not have a physical location” box being automatically checked as you are.

The only thing I can think of to suggest is to try with all plugins deactivated, then reactivate them one-by-one until you find the one that causes a problem.

Or always remember to add a location 🙂

I’m having this issue as well. To reiterate:

    1. I create an event and forget to select a location from the dropdown in the individual event page edit screen. Publish the event.
    2. I try to change the location in the dropdown and it lets me make the change and click the update button. When the screen refreshes, the location is blank again.

I am running all the latest updates as of today’s date (WP, WPML, Events Manager, Events Manager WPML).

Just to confirm, I deleted an event I had this problem with, AND deleted all the translated events as well. Then, re-created the event, being sure to add the LOCATION prior to saving the first time, and it sticks.

Also noticed the LOCATION field doesn’t display in the foreign language page until after saving the translated event. It does a nice job of copying the location over, thank you.

Thanks for the extra info. I’m still not able to recreate this. A couple of details that might help…

In step 2, “When the screen refreshes…” are you hitting Publish or Save Draft?

Can you give us the details of the location you had problems with? It could be related to foreign characters or something like that.

    Thread Starter chibichiii

    (@chibichiii)

    Hitting “Publish” for the Event.
The location were several, I didn’t use any special characters.
The locations I used were from different schools, different adresses and different names. Neither of them have any special characters.
One was Stenden College, and the next was Alfa College. So nothing special about those names.
