I think I see how to add new fields (http://www.kristarella.com/2009/04/add-image-exif-metadata-to-wordpress/). Not sure about editing the field values individually. Thanks.

What fields do you want to add? The next version will probably include keywords; there have been requests for the lens model, but that one is quite a bit more complicated than you’d think it would be. Hopefully I’ll have that in eventually.

You can edit the exif of an image before you upload it and then it will be imported when you upload. You can use Lightroom, Aperture, iPhoto to some extent, Exif Editor, The Exif.er, Exif Tool or whatever other tool you might find to edit the exif.

There’s currently no way to edit the exif after upload, but if you edit the exif of an image and reupload it via FTP you can use the Regenerate Thumbnails plugin to reprocess the image, which will also reimport exif.

I was interested in adding the location (one that I enter since I do not have GPS for camera). I also wanted to add support mechanism (tripod or handheld). Maybe time of day, time of year. Things like that that go beyond just the date and time. I want to make it appear friendly for viewers. I think I can add these by adding new fields to the media uploader.

However, the bigger issue for me is to be able to edit the actual EXIF data. Not all my photos have it, and I do not have the raw files for all of them to update. I was looking at using wp_get_attachment_metadata to grab the metadata, put it into media uploader fields, and the update the metadata with wp_update_attachment_metadata. That does not seem to work very well.

I suppose this modification attempt is well beyond the plugin. I am sure I came up with something.

Really great plugin. And thanks for the awesome support.
