Date Archive Template for category…

    I have the following template structure currently:

    category-news.php
category-magazine.php
category-filmography.php

    Each page has a different sidebar, and each page has an archive widget in that sidebar. I want to be able to retain the custom category layouts for archive searches BY DATE.

    Currently, i filter each archive widget on each sidebar by the category it is associated with, but as soon as you actually click an archive date you get the generic post list for that period.

    How can i retain my custom category page for the date queries too?

    Effectively, i want to be able to do something like:

    date-news.php
date-magazine.php
date-filmography.php

    Although i know that is not possible. Is there a workaround to this?
