Tracking the number of times a podcast has been downloaded

    Hi,

    I’d really like to understand my listener numbers more accurately. Is there a way to track the number of times a podcast has been downloaded and/or listened to? I thought about installing a WordPress download manager plug-in, and then maybe pointing SSP to the URL for the MP3 file as given by the download manager, but I’m not sure it would work all the way through including the listen-on-the-page utility that’s on my site, or if iTunes would recognize that type of set-up.

    If not through SSP, that would be a TREMENDOUS enhancement. I am using my own web host (pair.com), not a third party podcasting-specific web host, and my host doesn’t have a utility or method to deep dive into my web logs for this information.

    I’d recommend using libsyn.com to host your audio files. They offer some statistics and tracking metrics to see downloads, subscriptions, etc.
