Great Potential but doesn't work with most themes

    Great potential – functions are second to none on the market but early days, another directory beta release by developers for developers

    BUT..it does not turn any theme into the directory you have dreamed of

    Overlooks the fact that most WP users want plugins that dont require massive amounts of coding to make it compatible with a theme

    It mostly hijacks any theme you install it on, styling is not independent of function, you lose the ability to use your existing theme – it’s confused about being a theme or plugin

    Styling is terrible, looks like web design from 20 years ago

    Doesnt work with genesis themes, creates virtual pages, not flexible in terms of page creation, WP menu items, no shortcodes, using it without maps

    Support good but they will be stuck fixing a million theme specific issues unless they stick to making this a set of plugins that work in ANY WP theme

    Hold on until its stable and it looks decent

    Hi,

    GD works with any theme that follows wordpress guidelines. In fact it works with any theme that is bbpress, buddypress or woocommerce compatible.

    However, in the very next version, tempaltes markup and css will be almost entirely changed to be even more compatible.

    That along with shortcodes should make it 100% compatible virtually with any theme.

    As far as styling goes, Buddypress, BBpress and Woocommerce all come with their pre-defined set of style.

    Unless the theme author has overwritten the plugin default style, obviously that will look like it does by default.

    Anyway, thanks for your feedback, it will help us make it even better.

    GD is a very good plugin and I understand that is also very young. I am a happy customer and really impressed on how the developers respond to issues and requests.

    All I can say is try and use it yourself. Then compare it even to some of the expensive directory scripts out there and you’ll find why this plugin has a very bright future.

    Can’t wait for the upcoming features and child themes!
