Is it possible to change 'numeric' type field to 'text' once filled?

    Hi!
    I have a custom field type ‘numeric’ created by Types and, once filled in a lot of posts, now I realize that I need to put some letters in some cases, so I would need to move switch this numeric field type to ‘text’. If I try to edit the ‘custom field group’ properties, I can uncheck the ‘numeric’ checkbox, what is normal as it is a ‘numeric’ field. Is it possible in any way to change the type of the field in this situation?
