    My website is no more showing 404 errors (of course for the pages that don’t exist). I edited the 404 template of my theme and just updated the written text of the heading and body text (the h1 and the p), nothing else, and I get this now.

    When I open a page that doesn’t exist on my website, like japanaddicts.org/randomkeystrokes, the tab loads in a moment and shows just the link in the tab title. To be technical, it opens a webpage with nothing:

    <html>
        <head></head>
        <body>
        </body>
    </html>

    Update: Further, my category archives are acting the same way. Something is really wrong. An archive like http://japanaddicts.org/category/strategies is not working, while it used to work before.

    As long as I remember, I have not edited anything in the main theme CSS.

    What theme are you using? Where did you download it from?

    I’m running Codilight and I bought it from a theme reseller who set it up for me and also emailed me the zipped theme.

    Reinstall theme?

    Please give me a detailed comment on how to reinstall it. I also think that it’s the only solution but I’m new and nervous of doing things all by myself.

    Then all I can suggest is that you upload an unedited copy of the theme’s 404.php template file to the theme’s folder inside wp-content/ themes. I’m sorry but as this is a commercial theme, you need to seek any further theme-specific support from the theme’s developer/vendor. We do not have access to, nor do we support commercial products here.
