  • Hi Behemothkind,

Thanks for hopping in the forum. Sometimes this error is caused by other plugins interfering with the connection. We’ve seen similar issues with wordpress firewalls and wp supercache if you have those installed.

You might want to try disabling all other plugins, then enabling them one at a time, then try to connect. This can help narrow down if a plugin is causing the issue.

If that doesn’t work, try uninstalling and installing the plugin. You might also want to check with your host to make sure there aren’t any restrictions on connections. They can whitelist this site and these ip addresses: 50.23.108.137 50.97.194.22 https://sopresto.socialize-this.com

This thread also has additional troubleshooting steps you can take: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/error-couldnt-connect-to-host?replies=23

    Hello mc_d,

Thank you for your answer, I appreciate your help.

I still can’t log-in but I gave my web host only one of the two IPs you listed here so now I send him the other as well and hope for the best.

My WP installation is very fresh and I have not many plug-ins:
    Antispam Bee
    Captcha
    Google Analytics for WordPress
    Limit Login Attempts
    MailChimp
    Page Links To
Shareaholic | share buttons, analytics, related content
WebRotate 360 Product Viewer for WordPress

On the face of it, I don’t think any of them interferes with the MailChimp plug-in.

I will wait for my web host to white list the two IPs and the URL and if this still doesn’t help I will deactivate all plug-ins and see if this helps.

    Thank you for now,
    B

    Hey behemothkind,

Feel free to let us know if you end up continuing to see that issue, but that whitelisting *should* do the trick!

    Hi mc_gabe,

    I appreciate your help.

My support guy said: “…please disable mod_security for your domain name…”

    And that did the trick!

    Thanks for your help,
    B
