• After upgrading to 2.6 and following the instructions exactly for 2 of my sites, everything seems to be fine EXCEPT:

    1. Anything that loads up TinyMCE (new post, new page) fails to load in Internet Explorer, but for some reason loads fine in Firefox (latest versions on both browsers)

    2. However, the issue above ONLY applies to ONE of my sites. The other one (which uses the same plugins, same theme, etc) loads OK in IE, however with a script error warning message down in the lower left of the window.

Not quite sure what to do here. I use IE all the time, so thats the one I’d like it to work for, and preferably without a script error.

By the way, the script error on the site that “works” is:

    Line 4
    Char 2
    Error: ‘dbxGroup’ is undefined
    Code 0
    URL: domain.com/wp-admin/post-new.php

And the error I get on the site that does not load TinyMCE at all is:

Internet Explorer cannot open the internet site:
    domain.com/wp-admin/post-new.php
    Operation Aborted

…then you click OK and it takes you to a blank “cannot load page” screen.

    Any ideas???

I just tried replacing all the files in wp-admin and wp-includes, but it’s still doing the same thing on the problem site.

Completely puzzled as to why the editor loads on one of my sites but not the other.

    Still doing it…

I am also getting this error. Will WP come up with a big fixed ver for this fast? Keen to know.
    Thanks

Glad to see I’m not alone in this.

I tried it on a friends computer and the editor seems to error out on BOTH Firefox and IE… but on my own computer it just seems to be IE with the problem.

Can someone offer some insight into this?

    guys,
When you disable ALL plug-ins the error does not appear…..
I am yet to fig out which Plug-in causes this

thank god. I found some guys who have the same problem.
I am not very good in computer things and asked in the German WP forum. No answer at all!

I hope you can find the error …. would help me a lot.

    Hi,

I’m having the same problem with internet explorer 6 only. Firefox and other browsers are fine.

Hope someone at wordpress can figure out what’s wrong.

    Thanks,
    James

    Dear “thesaviour”,

Thank you, thank you thank you!!!!
    THIS really worked.

And – unfortunately I could not leave a comment at “thetechangel.com”. THANK YOU SO MUCH for solving this problem!!!!!!!!!! You make my day.

    Regards from happy jojoyful!!!!!

P.S.: When I opened the wp-config.php file with the editor and wanted to save it as “ANSI” – the editor showed that it is already an ANSI. I was a bit disappointed. I did it anyway and uploaded it new. AND: it worked!

This solution does not work for me IE7.

Is anyone going to give this thread a serious solution?

I’m having the same problem on several sites. On one site it gives the error message and won’t load and on the other the TINY MCE editor doesn’t show up so I’m in HTML only.

    Throw me a bone?

ME TOO. I have the exact same issue as the original post. FF works, Konqueror works, Safari works, Chrome works…SURPRISE IE6-7 does not.

I did not have this problem prior to the 2.6 upgrade (I skipped 2.5).

If the user turns off the checkbox for “visual editor” in his profile then there is no problem.

Have tried changing wp-config to ansi and it did nothing.

I will have to look for official bug report and see if we are all just yelling out here in the wind, or if someone is on this.

So everyone else has this fixed? IE suddenly started working after all these years?

I’m still broken…and have directed all my users to use a non-Microsoft browser. This is tick’n me off.

I can’t get it to work on either IEv6 or 7, but works on Safari, Firefox, and Google Chrome. The visual editor works in the admin area, but not if I use tinyMCE for comments.
