• I know that previous to WP 2.6 it was possible to place plugins into the functions.php file and they would work. Now, I am experiencing a problem with IE7, and when trying to activate a theme, the lightbox screen just hangs. When I remove the plugin code, the theme will activate.

Actually no it’s not resolved Nathan, as another site that we are testing on is still having the issue.

it seems like this issue is more widespread than I thought. the 2.6 release really should have the option to activate without previewing, because this little “bug” makes it impossible to activate a theme without previewing it first.

Perhaps a plugin maker would be so kind as to write a “active without preview” plugin.

Evidently this “bug” can be caused several different ways.

If the theme you’re activating isn’t structured absolutely perfectly, it won’t preview.

If the theme you’re activating has specific errors, it won’t preview.

Some have even reported that despite having a theme that looks absolutely fine, either a server configuration or an error in the upgrade process will cause you not to be able to preview the theme.

2.6.1 should have an activate button that bypasses the preview thing (or better yet, go back to the way it was, and add a “preview” button).

    Nathan
