Updraft Plus has been working superbly and quietly up until April 24, so this might have started with 1.9.4. (log file is here. )

    The error message in the status report is;

Failed to upload to Google Drive
    Warnings encountered:
    * Your website is visited infrequently and UpdraftPlus is not getting the resources it hoped for; please read this page: <updraft page link>

I do get traffic 24/7, both bots and people, so I don’t think this is an accurate conclusion. Google Drive has oodles of space on hand. The last Updraft activity on GD was a file deletion at 01:57h on 4/23, just after the last backup at 01:53h.

Reading through the other recent Google Drive issues doesn’t seem to turn up a direct match. I don’t use Google Analyticator, but do use Yoast’s Google Analytics for WordPress. Tried deactivating that and running Updraft manually without success.

Certainly willing to dig in to sort this out. — thanks

    Hi,

The log shows the same issue as in this thread:
    http://wordpress.org/support/topic/backup-error-since-194-update

and in this one (for one of this guy’s sites, not the other):

    http://wordpress.org/support/topic/no-upload-to-google-drive-using-version-195

    Specifically:

That backup is not working because you’ve not activated the Google Drive API in your Google API console, as in step 2. of the setup instructions – http://updraftplus.com/support/configuring-google-drive-api-access-in-updraftplus/ – things worked if you omitted this step before the current UD release, but that step has always been in the instructions.

To fix it, you need to enable the Google Drive API in your Google API console.

    Best wishes,
    David

    Hi David,
I am not sure what has happened but Updraftplus 1.9.5 has stopped doing its stuff. I had not noticed but its last backup was apparently on 23/4/14. I am a complete newbie to this sort of thing and have no idea how to fix it. I have checked the Google API Console and all of the information held there appears to be the same that is visible on my computer.

Last backup job run: (red text) Have not yet obtained an access token from Google -you need to authorise or re-authorise your connection to Google Drive.

I don’t know how to do that and would appreciate it if you could walk me through that process.

The internal ID number for Google drive, the Google drive client secret and the google drive client ID are all correct. Please advise.

    Kind regards,
    Jeff

    Awesome, David. Thank you!

I wish I could have parsed that from the logs. Updraft is now working again for two installs/accounts. However, the second install is still giving the warning about “infrequent visits”. For this second site, the Google Drive API had been enabled from the original setup almost a year ago. This site also gets traffic 24/7 plus bot traffic and regular Pingdom visits.

Thanks for a great plugin and super support help!

    Hi addressee,

Great – glad you got it sorted. If you get a ‘infrequent visits’ message, then the best way to investigate that is to read the log file, and see where it occurs (it’s not in the one you posted). It is triggered if the WP scheduler does not call UD vaguely when expected. So, it may indicate a problem in your WP scheduler. You could investigate that with a plugin like WP-Crontrol, to see if you’ve got scheduled tasks which aren’t being run in a timely fashion. (In general, though, do open a separate thread for separate issues – as mentioned in the forum welcome: http://codex.wordpress.org/Forum_Welcome#Where_To_Post)

    Best wishes,
    David
