Interesting idea! Would referees need their own profiles (so that we select them from a dropdown), or could it be a simple text input added to an event?

If we can pick the dropdown list from the users would be great. Basic details of the referees, such as tel and email, will be need. The site is for referees as such all the users are referees.

Hi Themeboy, We too would be very interested in these feature.
Specifically, we’d be interested in the addition of a Referees section (similar to the players profiles). I am currently considering using the Players and Teams function to do the same thing but can I change the name “Team” to something else? Could I perhaps do this using a language translation file. We have a number of different levels of referees, for example.
Like Bucksrefs, we would like to add similar information but it would be great if we could change the labels and add information. For example, “Referee Since” “Referee Group (like team)” “Previous Union” “Achievements (work like Tags).”

@arra Thanks for these details. The “Team” label can be changed via SportsPress > Settings > Text, which might be useful when using the players feature for referees.
We’re working on a Pro version of the plugin which includes additional features. The first version will be released soon, and the 2nd version is scheduled to include “Officials” (referees, judges, umpires, etc).
I’ll be sure to include the functionality you mentioned 🙂
Any update on that referee field? Would be great if you could show how many yellow, red cards, yellow cards, penalties did the referee show in a game, so that you can then see how many of that did he shown the entire season. Something like here: http://members.gssl.com/referee_info.php?id=499
