• Backstory –

I created a site for a client of mine which is sort of like a multisite. There is 1 admin, 1 database, but can control an unlimited number of sites. The admin can change all content on any site, and has a dropdown in the cms to manage the current site. There are also users (workers) who are assigned any number of profiles on any of the sites. The profiles will be shown on the front end but will be “owned” by the workers assigned to it. The front end visitor will only see the site profile, not the worker itself. The users can add things like photo galleries, blogs, etc for each site profile for each site in the network. Each profile in each site would need to be different (although can have the same name – they can have the same content or completely different content)

So I was curious if it would be even possible to do in MS.

  • You can assign specific users to specific sites within the multisite network. The users profile information would be constant on all sites. It sounds like your client has a complex setup. I would probably keep that setup unless there’s enough Multisite features to convince a change. If you do go that route it sounds like there might be quite custom development involved.
